Languages

Learning a foreign language takes time and dedication. The reasons below may help to convince you to take the plunge, if such persuasion is needed. Some reasons are practical, some aspirational, some intellectual and others sentimental, but whatever your reasons, having a clear idea of why you’re learning a language can help to motivate you in your studies. When you move to a different country or region, learning the local language will help you to communicate and integrate with the local community. Even if many of the locals speak your language, for example if your L1 is English and you move to the Netherlands, it’s still worth your while learning the local language. Doing so will demonstrate your interest in and commitment to the new country. If your partner, in-laws, relatives or friends speak a different language, learning that language will help you to communicate with them. It can also give you a better understanding of their culture and way of thinking. If your work involves regular contact with speakers of foreign languages, being able to talk to them in their own languages will help you to communicate with them. It may also help you to make sales and to negotiate and secure contracts. Knowledge of foreign languages may also increase your chances of finding a new job, getting a promotion or a transfer overseas, or of going on foreign business trips.

High School

High school is all about preparing you for the “real world”. When you wonder if you will ever use the material you learn in your classes, think about the skills that you are learning not just the subject matter. Your listening, note-taking, and information processing skills will help you in so many ways when you go to college or start working on your career. Not only that, high school gives you a chance to grow up mentally, emotionally and physically.

By not staying in school, you are skipping some of the most important stages in adolescence and they are the most important ones. Growing up too quickly by propelling yourself into an adult life, will set you up for a lot of disappointment and regret if you are not lucky. Taking the time to learn about the different things the world has to offer will help you decide what are the right choices for you after graduation. Without this information and time to grow up, you may start the next stage of your life lost in the shuffle.

Future Benefits of a High School Education
While it may be difficult to consider future benefits when you are going through a hard time now, it’s the future that is most affected if you decide not to follow through with your education.

Did you know that 60 percent of jobs in the United States require employees to have training or education beyond high school? That means if you don’t finish, you will have a much harder time finding a job. If you do find a job, you can expect your salary to be lower than if you did receive a high school education. According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, people who received their high school diploma or GED were 37.5 percent less likely to be unemployed than others.

Foundation

The foundation course is a one or two year preparatory course for school-leavers who want to qualify for a place on a bachelor’s degree course in art, design or architecture. The course is almost entirely practical in nature, although increasingly elements of art and design history have been introduced, and it is considered sufficient to qualify those who pass it to move on to a degree course without further study. It is the dominant form of entry to university and art college degree courses in the United Kingdom, but versions of it exist in several other countries, particularly where British influence over art education has been historically strong. In Ireland it is known as the Core Studies course, and versions of the foundation course.

Undergraduate

Undergraduate programs are more general in nature. They include general education courses in a wide variety of subjects that are not part of graduate education. Graduate programs are highly specialized and much more advanced than undergraduate programs.

MBA

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is an internationally-recognized degree designed to develop the skills required for careers in business and management. The value of the MBA, however, is not limited strictly to the business world. An MBA can also be useful for those pursuing a managerial career in the public sector, government, private industry, and other areas.

Most MBA programs include a “core” curriculum of subjects, such as accounting, economics, marketing, and operations, as well as elective courses that allow participants to follow their own personal or professional interests. Some schools require that MBA candidates complete an internship at a company or organization, which can lead to concrete job opportunities after the program.

Quality business schools generally require that candidates have at least a few years of professional work experience before starting an MBA program. Applicants are also asked to submit Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) scores, academic transcripts, letters of reference, and an essay or statement of purpose that reflects why they want to pursue an MBA. Non-native English speakers usually have to prove adequate English skills with TOEFL or IELTS scores, or through previous academic experience.

Online Courses

One of the best advantages of online classes is flexibility. A student can usually take the course any time during the day or week. While there are custom essay writing and researching assignments to complete, the precise time to take the class often depends on the student’s desire. Students who work are able to take the class based on their schedules. Many students work on their course during the middle of the night or early in the morning. The flexibility of the course makes it possible for a person to complete the course, while attending college courses in person might be impossible due to their work schedules.

Another great advantage of online courses is that almost any type of course can be found online. Distance learning courses are often available from a number of colleges. A person can simply use the Google to find a class.

While most people believe a disadvantage of taking online courses is that the students cannot have access to a faculty member, the fact is that many online courses offer a greater access to faculty. Shy students are able to ask questions because they can ask them online without facing the instructor. The Internet makes it possible for the student to ask questions and receive the answer back almost immediately.

Online courses are convenient for most undergraduate and graduate students who can study when they want and they can finish writing or researching assignments based on their own person schedules. The fact is — online courses offer flexibility and convenience that are often vital to students who work and have families.

R4U English Teacher

I have been teaching for a number of years and have been fortunate to have taught and worked in schools in Australia, Indonesia and Malta. For me, teaching is both enjoyable and rewarding. When I start seeing linguistic improvement in a student, the feeling of knowing that I have taught and helped someone is priceless. It is wonderful to meet so many students from around the world, who in turn also teach me something about their culture.

Being in the classroom is not all about being serious all the time. Having a laugh and sharing a joke with my students is something I try my best to achieve every day, as I believe this creates a natural and fun learning environment for everyone!
